About Our Club
The Plant City Rotary Club was chartered on May 12, 1955. The charter members included B.J. Phillips -President, Frank Henderson -Vice President, Garner Helms -Secretary/Treasurer, Carlos Cone -Sergeant of Arms, and additional board members D.L. Hall, Dr. John DeRing and Zane Blanton. There were a total of 22 charter members.
The Plant City Rotary Club has always been active in our community. Hard work and dedication to the Rotary ideal of "Service before Self" have allowed this club to be successful. Many individuals have worked selflessly to help this club grow and prosper.
In addition to actively participating in community events, our club provides financial support to many local, national, and international charities. Our club is well noted in the district for projects we have taken on in the International Avenue of Service, as well as our consistently high attendance records. In our reforestation project north of Plant City we planted over a million trees. Rotary Forest has received national recognition.
In an effort to help spread the positive influence of Rotary, our club has sponsored the formation of two other clubs- the Tampa East club in Tampa and the Daybreak Rotary club in Plant City. We also support the Interact club at Plant City High School.
We actively support Rotary International through direct club donations, as well as active participation in the Paul Harris Fellows program and the Rotary Benefactor program. We have established the Plant City Rotary Foundation in order to facilitate charitable giving and contributions to local charities and individuals.
This club has a proud heritage. With active participation of our members we can look forward to accomplishing great things as we attempt to give back to our community and our world a small measure of the blessings we have received.
