Rotary Roundup: Local Rotarian Dave Harper is recognized for service

On Oct. 13, at a regularly scheduled luncheon meeting, Dave Harper of the Rotary Club of Twinsburg was awarded the Avenues of Ser-vice Citation. This is one of Rotary's prestigious awards given at the club level. Since becoming a Rotarian in 1984, David has been extremely active, both on a local level as well as a district level. He is past president of the Rotary Club of Twinsburg and is the past assistant governor of District 6630, of which Twinsburg is a member. David is currently the district secretary, and lists among his accomplishments being a team leader of a group study exchange pro-gram that last year traveled to Taiwan. We at the Rotary Club of Twinsburg congratulate David and thank him for his service in all avenues. He exemplifies what Rotary is all about, "Service Above Self"

Here are the details of this citation:
Purpose: Recognizing that the strength of the Rotary ideal is founded on the service carried out by club members worldwide, this citation program provides a means for Rotary clubs to personally recognize a member of the club for outstanding efforts in the five Avenues of Service. The citation commends the service carried out by an individual Rotarian in the club, thereby reinforcing the importance which Rotary places on the personal involvement of each club member in Rotary service activities.
Selection process: The method of selection is to be determined by the club president.
Club presidents may wish to appoint a special committee to select a nominee, or may ask their board of directors to carry out this responsibility. Club nominations are to be submitted by the club president to Rotary International, with an information copy to the district governor.
Eligibility: The nominee must have consistently demonstrated support of the Object of Rotary through participation in service activities in each of the five Avenue of Service: Club, Vocational, Community, International and New Generations.
- An individual may only receive the award once.
- The nominee must be an active Rotarian in good standing.
- Rotarians who are ineligible include:
- Current Club Presidents
- Current, incoming, and immediate past District Governors
- Current, Incoming and past Rotary International Directors.
- Only one nominee is eligible per club per Rotary year.
It is a well deserved award for an outstanding Rotarian.
