Adopt a South Africa Preschool

"Adopt a South African Preschool's" mission is to establish Educational Toy Library Training Centers in impoverished communities so that daycares become preschools, caregivers become teachers, and children gain the foundation to thrive in school and life.

On her first visit to South Africa in 2018 Nancy visited a preschool in an impoverished community. She felt an immediate heart-tug to support the education of at-risk children in impoverished, segregated townships. Back in the states, friends and relatives said, “If you find a way to help, we’ll help you help.”

The Newtown Rotary’s generous $5,000 grant in 2023 purchased additional educational toys as well as tables and chairs for the 8 Toy Library Training Centers ASAP has established in the last 3 years. Educational toys are now accessible to almost 10,000 children and “We’ve only just begun”!

Nancy has a psychotherapy practice with adults and couples from her home in Yardley. She was the Director of Student Counseling at Princeton Theological Seminary for 20 years and is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ.

“I always hoped to participate in an international nonprofit though I never expected to start one! It is a thrill to find such an impactful way to address the crisis of generational poverty by helping children thrive”.

The thank-you update presentation will include a 3-minute video and slides showing the impact of the Rotary grant.
