Rotary Fair and Business Showcase Begin Second Decade

The weeklong Rotary Fair/Business Showcase, scheduled for Tuesday, August 14 – Sunday, August 19, at the Hillsborough Promenade, 315 Route 206, begins its second decade of operation under Rotary leadership this Summer. Attendance has averaged 15,000 annually, making it one of Hillsborough’s most popular and enduring community events. Once again, a dizzying array of thrill rides, games, food, vendor displays and a special fireworks show are planned.

“The Fair is a perennial favorite for our residents,” commented Greg Burchette, president of the Rotary Club of Hillsborough, “but it is also our most important fundraiser, allowing us to help support a wide range of charitable organizations and causes throughout the year.”

The Rotary Fair features 21 amusement rides by Majestic Midway Amusements, games by Paladin Amusements, a DJ, a wide selection of food, various displays by area vendors and a petting zoo.  Featured rides include the Himalayan, Bumper Cars, Ring of Fire, Super Shot, Sizzler, Zipper, Carousel, Kite Flyer and many more. This year, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday will be pay-one-price ($30) wristband nights. All proceeds raised at the fair are returned to the community as contributions to local community service organizations.

Sponsored by Petrock’s Bar & Grille, an extensive firework display by Interstate Fireworks will light up Hillsborough skies on Friday evening, August 17, at approximately 10 PM (rain date of Saturday August 18).

Local Businesses Showcase Their Services

The Fair will once again provide local businesses with multiple opportunities to showcase their services and connect directly with customers through the purchase of a $300 sign displayed at the Fair throughout the week, or the purchase a $600 tented space that provides an opportunity to meet and talk with attendees.

“Meeting prospective customers at a highly regarded community event can do a great deal to boost a company’s image and customer base,” noted Ken Genco, the Rotary Club of Hillsborough member in charge of the business showcase. “Community members deeply appreciate those businesses that demonstrate their community support through events like this.”
