One year ago, seven New Jersey Rotary Clubs, including the Rotary Club of Hillsborough, participated in a project to improve sanitary conditions for 14 families in the town of Quilinga in southern Ecuador. The project provided the families with sanitary units that include a toilet, sink, shower, and laundry area, all connected to a septic tank. These units now serve 120 residents.

One of Rotary’s many global projects, the Ecuadorean sanitary units were made possible through a combination of financial contributions and support from the seven participating New Jersey Rotary Clubs, the local Rotary Club of Loja, Ecuador, and a Rotary Foundation grant.  The total cost of the Ecuadorean project was $37,900.   The Rotary Club of Loja held an inauguration and hand over function in late Dec 2018.
