Community Members Turn Out for Holiday Packing Event for Troops

Hundreds of Hillsborough community members joined the Rotary Club of Hillsborough and Operation Shoebox volunteers this past Saturday at Hillsborough YMCA to ensure that our troops abroad have a little reminder of our gratitude for their service.  Thanks to the extraordinary community support and the monetary contributions made to off-set shipping costs, over 1000 boxes of donated toiletries and snacks will be on their way overseas, and in the hands of grateful service men and women in time for the holidays.

“What better way to begin the holiday season than showing our support and gratitude for our troops serving abroad,” commented Greg Burchette, president of the Rotary Club of Hillsborough.  “This is our seventh year organizing this packing event for Operation Shoebox, and we are never disappointed in the support we receive from the Hillsborough community, including our local YMCA.”
