2014 RI Dinner/District Conference May 1-3

RI Presidential Dinner & District Conference

 

This past weekend was very busy for members of the Hillsborough Rotary Club. It started on Thursday night at Maggiano's Little Italy, and ended with the District 7510 Conference held at the Hotel Somerset Bridgewater, Somerset, NJ. The district hosted Past District Governor/RI President's Representative Patrick Voegilin his wife Karen and numerous past and present members of District 7510. District Governor Tulsi Maharjan and the District Conference Staff designed and implemented three days full of events to Engage all members of the district. On Thursday night, District Governor Tulsi Maharjan presented Joe Horner and John Shockley the Prestigious Paul Harris Fellow Award and the Governor's Citation for "District Project Support". 

 

The awards continued at the conference for the Hillsborough Rotary Club. The club came in first place and received the "Care and Share" award for Youth Service for the "Autism Fun Day". Next a Presidential Citation was awarded to the Hillsborough High School Interact Club for their hard work. A lot of clubs displayed  pictures and items of their events over the past year. The goal was to win Tulsi dollars from members of the other clubs. Unfortunately, we missed first place, ending in second and missing first place by five dollars.  A special moment for the first married couple to join our club and the district happened on Saturday night. District Governor Tulsi Maharjan and District Governor Elect Melvin Kevoe presented Gary & Mary Fran Wiesner Rotary Pins. The District Conference ended on Saturday night with a Sock Hop dance. The music reflected the 1960's and everyone had a good time.
