Gracious hosts of our Rotary picnic, Eric and Cheryl Foote welcomed 27 guests to their home last night. We thoroughly enjoyed the Grillmeister's wizardry with burgers and sausage, along with special drinks, h'ors, d'oeuvres, salads and desserts. We even had the chance to wish a HAPPY 30th ANNIVERSARY to them as they sliced their celebratory cake. What "Service above Self", to share this date with a yard full of fellow Rotarians!!!! Thank you, both for your hospitality.

Joan Powers arrived at our picnic as a guest and by the words of Induction by President Bob, left as a member! Welcome Joan, we look forward to your presence among us. As everyone knows Joan is coordinator of the Scituate Senior Center and is a regular volunteer at the Food Pantry, St. Luke's Church and for many other community services. We are honored to have you as our newest member!

Kaitlin St. George introduced her three Service Learning Course students. Their senior projects are ambitious. Katia talked about her benefit concert to help young cancer patients through Donna Green's Magical Moon Foundation. Maria and Sheila will coordinate efforts to aid the Scituate Food Pantry and Somerville Shelter. They are also planning projects for local environmental awareness. What wonderful projects for such a youthful group, certainly they are future Rotarians at work!!!!!

As the stars came out, the "stars" of Rotary were invited inside to see Eric's wonderful firsthand Travelogue of Kenya on the BIG SCREEN, while Dan Schmelzer gave us an overview of the work he does in Kenya with Capstone. Our club is active in this work in Kisumu. Join us next week at the Scituate Country Club for Dan's full presentation.
