12 December 2018: Club Night

Notes of Meeting 12 December 2018

Susan Phippen House

Present: Janet, Bart, Walter, Sue, Lucille, Janice, Dietrich and JD

  • As I was unable to speak audibly, let it be known that we were working on one of our District Grants. JD worked with Community Christmas to find a way we could work with them. What we did was our physical part of that work. Financially, we pay for the blank cards and envelopes and the postage up to $1500 - $750 of which we get back from the District. It is CC's project thus full 1st class postage. It included significant contribution of local Girl Scouts. A nice joint effort. JD, please ask for some photos for the grant report. CC took many as did PL.

Our second grant is with the NSRWA – details to follow in the spring. We were encouraged to forge bonds with local organizations and that is what we are doing, folks.

  • Co-Pres Janice secured food for us. Sorry I forgot the napkins. Next time better. But I found it a very nice venue for meetings in the future. We will be looking at how to meet until April without the SCC. Maybe we can learn a more cost efficient way of life as a club. If we are going to be moving about, I will send an extra message on Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning but it needs to be front and center on the web page for potential visitors. (Bernie take note, please.)
  • After our work and food we planned to have our Christmas Party at Lucille's that will include a $15 Yankee Swap (LUCILLE'S rules) and games (mandatory per Lucille). RSVP required by SATURDAY as Lucille will have the meal catered and cost will be shared by those attending.
  • Walter asserted his role as incoming President and directed a discussion on new officers. He is concerned that we get everyone signed up with RI and the District ASAP. Sue has agreed to be his secretary. Bernie told Walter he will no longer be Treasurer so we decided a new treasurer can have a simpler task with a pay-as-you-go format which lead us to a discussion on new venue and exactly what a new treasurer must do. There will be more on this...
  • Janice suggests we use Beijing for our club nights starting in January. Again, pay for what you eat.

Respectfully submitted,

Janet Schmitz Secretary
