We over 38 people in attendance, several from Sunrise Rotary Club in Plymouth, and several from the Duxbury Club. We thank them for coming to hear Beth Murphy our guest speaker.

Dinner break and then Beth spoke how good things have been happening, and that she is excited getting things done for her next project. Beth thanked the Sctuate Rotary club and the Duxbury Rotary club for the initial grant to get her projects underway, also for the school to be built.  500 girls are now attending the school in Afghanistan.  Every grade thru seven has two classrooms. They have grown from 5 classrooms to l4! She said it is difficult to get teachers for the school, but if the teacher’s get married they don’t come back to teach. A lot of family responsibility the teachers there have.

Transportation: they have a van with a driver who picks up the girls. Total of a two hour drive each day. Beth mentioned that the film “What Tomorrow Brings” will be seeing the school thru the eyes of two girls. Beth says the film is 85 minutes long, but she plans to cut it down for different sources. No day is easy at the school, but the girls are determined to learn and enjoy it. Protection at the school comes from town’s people. They have a 24/7 guard at school.  Education is taking hold in that community she said. English is being taught in kindergarten . Nice talk Beth. Then she opened it up for Q&A.

Meeting closed at 8:l5 p.m.
