Keith Gonsalves gave a very interesting talk about fish ladders and his work in organizing and creating the Ten Mile River Watershed Council.  The image here depicts construction of a fish ladder that will allow native herring the ability negotiate man-made dams to run up river to spawn.

  • Board Meeting:  The next Board meeting on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Spumoni’s.
  • Major Fundraiser:  Matt Davis will chair the Major Fundraiser Committee this year.  We will be running a raffle – likely with cash prizes (“cash is king!”).  Matt needs volunteers to join his committee!!  Please offer your help. 
  • Service Project:  The math flash cards have arrived!  We will distribute them at St. Cecelia’s school. Date to be announced soon.
  • GSE program:  Many changes this year.  Rotarians are now eligible as team members and there is no longer an age restriction.  There is an increased focus on vocation – this year the vocation is the medical field.  The exchange will be with Germany, May 4 – 25, 2014.
  • Drivers Needed:  The German GSE Team will be visiting from April 26th through May 2.  Drivers are needed on Monday (1/2 day); Wednesday (full day); Thursday (local in Pawtucket). 
  • Thank you to Rotary:  The Mixed Magic Theatre would like to thank the Rotary Club for their donation of $600 to buy carpet by hosting an event on Thursday, May 8th at 5:30 p.m.
