At our meeting on May 3rd at Our Table restaurant the Jamestown Rotary presented a check for $1000.00 to Charlotte Markey, Southwest District Executive of the BSA. The contribution will support the BSA’s Growing Leaders Campaign so scouting can continue to make a difference in the lives of our youth in Jamestown and South County.
The donation provides:
- A year-round camping program for new and experienced campers,
- Resources for community outreach for local events,
- Upgrades to facilities to meet new guidelines making safety the priority.
- Training for volunteers at all levels of the program,
- Financial assistance so that any youth can participate in Scouting.
The Boy Scouts of America teach timeless values to build character as well as critical technical, social, and emotional skills so that Scouts can take on the challenges that life’s journey presents them.
The Jamestown Rotary is the sponsor of and supports annually Jamestown’s Troop One and Rotarian Larry Bartley is the Troop’s District Chairman.
Anyone who would like to learn more about scouting in our community may contact Charlotte Markey at 401-351-8700 or by email at Charlotte.markey@scouting.org.
