Business
- Presentation – Lil Wilson: Lodge Resident. Gazebo at the Lodge needs repair, and the area around it would be great for Hens/eggs. She has approached the powers that be, including the Town to see about allowing hens back in Vermilion. The roof was put together by Lakeland College, the rest could have been built by Bill Pettigrew back in the day. The soundness of the structure needs to be verified. (a consultant has said it is not sound and that they should start from scratch) They have some hurdles regarding approvals for the idea etc, and they also need funds. Also need walkways etc. to make the facility accessible. Project is in the feasibility/feeling out phase. More to come.
- 2023-2024 Budget - Bruce had a question to clarify RYLE and RYLA, answered by Lorne. Bruce Moves to accept the budget as presented, seconded by Laurel. Vote Passed. Motion by Dawn to have Kirby Whitlock, Michael Webb, Darlene Barlow and Eugene Wasylik have signing authority for the Club effective July 1st. Seconded by Lisa. Motion Passed.
- Memorial Plaque for Brenda Lee: Motion by Loretta That the Rotary club of vermilion purchase a memorial plaque in honour of Rotarian Brenda Lee and have it placed at the Rotary Lookout. Seconded by all the club members present. Vote - Passed.
- AED Purchase for Valleyview, Maples, Valley Lodge – Club has been contacted to look at supplying AED’s to the Condo’s. Condo Boards. Motion by Dave - That the Rotary Club of Vermilion Purchase one Automated External Defibrillator (AED) for each of Valleyview Condo, Maples Condo and Valley Lodge provided that the respective Condo Boards will accept responsibility for maintenance of the AED. Seconded by Laurel. Discussion. Upkeep and responsibility would fall on the various end users for training, maintenance etc. We have one that was placed elsewhere in the community, so we would only need 2 more to facilitate the ask for the 3 locations. We would need them to commit and to accept responsibility for the machines. Question regarding hop many we have in the community. Vote, Passed.
- Following the meeting they will be setting up the Peace Pole, all members are invited.
- Bruce presented a banner to the club from his recent trip overseas.
