Off-site meeting Tuesday, January 29-Border City Rotary Club
Foundation presentation will be Thursday, January 24th. Please attend if you are able. Wayne and Wayne from the district will be presenting about the Rotary Foundation.
Table Discussions:
A consistent theme through the Project Review process was the idea of member engagement and ensuring that there are enough volunteers for the projects that we run.
What might our club need to do or change to make our service project more attractive to club members and prospective members. Since Rotary is a service club, how should we be communicating the expectations of service to our current, new and prospective members?
- Outlining to members the type of volunteer opportunities and hours involved & other duties and expectations that exist.
-teamwork-doing things together, particularly the tough tasks (like canvassing)
-co-chairing major activities
-letting members know what is upcoming at meetings-such as speakers
What are some avenues we should explore as a club to recruit quality prospective members in order to strengthen and grow our club? Is there a particular member profile we should be targeting?
-ASK, ask again.
-Identify possible new members-identified some people from the community-new businesses, new generation of families; Selte, Snelgrove, people in new positions at Town and LLC, teachers
Benefits statement-what new members will get out of Rotary (fellowship, helping community)
-Welcoming and inviting new & prospective members to meeting with something of interest such as a speaker or youth presentation.
Every year several club members leave our club. Some leave because of employment and life circumstances, but some just cease to be club members. What might our club need to do to retain members and keep them engaged? Should our club be doing more to support club members leaving our community to keep them connected to the Rotary organization?
