  • Outdoor Pool Playground Replacement Proposal
Laurel Proposes:  That the Rotary Club of Vermilion donates $40,000 towards the replacement of the “Toddler Playground” at the Outdoor Pool Playground site as requested by the Town of Vermilion.  Seconded by Dawn.
Is there a concern with infringing on the Lions Club? The town has come to us specifically giving us first option, this is not a currently sponsored by another Service Club. Should we see that there is other opportunities for the other clubs. WE do not currently have any “big ticket” item on our projects list. We currently have the funds even without a fundraising push. The executive noted that the number proposed was taken from the Town’s offer. Through grants etc. this would turn into 80,000. Our first GIC comes due in December, we believe they only need the commitment from the club.
Laurel motions to Table until a later meeting. That way more members will have a chance to review.
  • Garage Sale Committee - Brenda has stepped down as the chair. The club is in need of a new committee chair. Laurel noted that Dave has stepped up not to be chair, but to act as first contact in regards to storing items etc. This is something that needs to go to the Garage Sale committee to come forward with a way to proceed. Is there a job aid from Brenda available. Dave noted that there was more stuff in the Sea Can than he was expecting.  Please keep him in the loop on any additions to the facility. Is there anything prohibiting Community members from stepping up and being on the committee? (to be looked at)
  • International Exchange - Someone is interested, is there an apatite as a club to send and accept an exchange student. Notice to club to consider if you are willing to participate, and at what level. The current student with interest is from Elk Point.
  • Casino - We have put our name back in the schedule. Fourth Quarter 2023 at the earliest.
  • AED – Need a list of where we have them and approaching someone to make sure they are maintained.  Eugene is building a list.
