garage sale

 

The Club accepts the generous donations of useable items from community members during the week prior to the sale for the purpose of hosting a community Garage Sale to raise funds for the club’s good works within the Vermilion area.  Rotary members commit all sale proceeds will support local programs and projects in the community.

When the sale opens to hundreds of shoppers, the items are vast and varied, having been sorted, cleaned and displayed by Rotarians, spouses, youth organization volunteers, and Community Friends of Rotary.  Due to the enormity of donations, items are not individually priced.  Shoppers are asked to make a fair and reasonable offer for their purchases, allowing them to be active participants in supporting local community initiatives while supporting Rotary.   

Unsold items are shared with several Leftover Partners in an effort to respect the spirit in which items were donated, keep useable items from the landfill, and pass forward potential to other worthy organizations to support their good works in our area.

The success of the Rotary Garage Sale project here is most definitely due to the support of our community!  They have wholeheartedly embraced this project, value the Garage Sale as a community service, and have the confidence in Rotary’s abilities to maximize the value of donations with integrity.  It is their generous donation of items and their willingness to come shop that keeps this sale growing.  From venue set-up to pack-up after the sale, approximately 1450 volunteer hours are logged in the days leading up to and including the sale.
