Announcements
  • Thank you to team 3 for breakfast
  • Reminder to sign up for the district conference to be held in Grande Prairie Oct 3-5.  If you do sign up please let Mary Lee know you are going.
  • Presidential Citation-membership:  2019-20 Rotary Citation ‘UNITE PEOPLE’ and ‘AKE ACTION’ To be achieved by the club by achieving as many as we can of the following. 
UNITE PEOPLE
Achieve at least 5 of the following goals:
  1. Appoint an active club membership committee comprised of no less than five members and report the chair to Rotary International
  2. Achieve a net gain in membership
  3. Maintain or improve your club’s retention of current and new members: ¡ Improve your club’s retention rate by 1 percentage point or ¡ If your club’s retention rate was 90 percent or more in 2018-2019, maintain it
  4.  Achieve a net gain in female members or members under the age of 40
  5. Conduct a study of your members’ occupations, and work to align your membership with the mix of businesses and professions in your community
  6. Sponsor or co-sponsor a new Rotary club or Rotary Community Corps 
  7. Sponsor or co-sponsor an Interact or Rotaract club
  8.  Host an event for Rotary alumni, and highlight Rotary’s networking opportunities
  9.  Sponsor a Youth Exchange student or RYLA participant
Our club has appointed a Membership committee starting with our Membership Chair Janine Lang, new committee members are Mary Lee Prior, Eugene Wasylik, Rebekah Warkentin and Darlene Barlow.  We hope to achieve a net gain of 3 new members.  There had been some discussion about the Social and Membership Committees joining forces, however, the general consensus is to keep them separate.  We need to focus on increasing membership so our numbers don’t dwindle.  We are looking at reviewing and possibly adjusting our bylaws to allow for flexibility and become more attractive to potential new members.
 
TAKE ACTION
Achieve at least 5 of the following goals:
  1. Appoint an active club Foundation committee comprised of no less than five members and report the chair to Rotary International
        Robin Sherwood(chair), Marcia Jacula, Scott Webb-they will recruit 2 more members
 
  1. Increase the number of members involved in service projects
         Our club has high involvement
 
  1. Contribute at least $100 per capita to the Annual Fund of The Rotary Foundation
           As a club we contribute $3000 annually
 
  1. Hold an event to raise funds for, or to increase awareness of, Rotary’s work toward polio eradication 
          Purple Pinkie day
 
  1. Conduct a significant local or international service project in one of Rotary’s six areas of focus
          Mary Lee will check to see if books for Belize meets this criteria
 
  1. Post successful club projects, with details about activities, volunteer hours, and funds raised, on Rotary.org 
           This is currently being done
 
  1. Continue or establish a partnership with a corporate, governmental, or nongovernmental entity and work on a project together
          Mary Lee will check to see if the Ice Plant Project meets this criteria

  1. Use Rotary’s brand guidelines, templates, People of Action campaign materials, and related resources 
          Currently being used
 
  1. Arrange for the club’s members to talk with the media to tell your club’s and Rotary’s story
          Possibly more media coverage through FB and Social media
 
Sargent’s report-If you are still pulling on the right door to get in the building pay $1.  Let’s also share things that have made us happy this summer.  Several club members shared their experiences.
