Thank you to team 1 for breakfast
- Harvest Gala update-Shawn reported that the amount raised by the Harvest Gala will total around $55,000. There are still a few small bills to pay and Darlene mentioned that here are still a few payment to collect on silent auction items. Shawn thanked everyone and says he is extremely happy with the results.
- Flag program-Erwin has come forward as tentative chair for this project.
- Haying in the 30’s fundraiser Lisa Beveridge. Janine Lange has been the Chair of the “Haying in the 30’s” cookie fundraiser for the past number of years and sent an email(she was unable to attend the executive meeting) to the executive outlining some of the changes the chamber has done to the Festival of Trees and how this will impact this particular fundraiser. She brought up several suggestions on how we could move forward with this and was looking for ideas/thoughts from the rest of the executive. The executive discussed several different scenarios and a proposal was presented by Lisa Beveridge to the Rotary members at the November 7 breakfast meeting. It was decided by the members at the meeting to turn this fundraiser back to the committee. This will be followed up at upcoming meetings.
- Outreach school Breakfast Program funding request-Mary Lee received a funding request from Barry Scinski, principal for VOS(Vermilion Outreach School) to help support their breakfast program. The executive discussed the request at their meeting and decided to grant the request, based on the enrollment at VOS and donation of $200 was agreed upon as an annual donation to be presented to the members. Mike Webb made a motion to support the VOS Breakfast program in the amount of $200 annually. Marcia Jacula seconded. Motion passed. Dawn Riley moved to amend the motion to a $500 donation. Lorne Maier seconded Motion defeated.
- JR Robson Basketball provincials funding request. Mary Lee received a funding request from Loretta Quickstad on behalf of the Basketball Provincials Committee. Funding will go towards the costs of hosting/running the tournament. Groups making donations will be recognized in the tournament program and signage. Erwin Warkentin moved that the Rotary Club of Vermilion donate $500.00 to JR Robson for the purpose of hosting basketball Provincials in March. Darlene Barlow Seconded. Motion passed.
- New Generations update-Laurel-Laurel and Kirby presented Laurel and Kirby gave presentations to 3 schools on the long term student exchange. No students applied to the program. The Human Rights camp in Winnipeg in February had no takers. Ryla is a leadership day for Interact students, however as only one student attended the last interact meeting, no one will be attending. Adventures in Citizenship update- Eugene has paid for the camp and Lorne will assist with picking the student in the spring. Laurel will update the club.
