Correction from last weeks minutes- I reported in last weeks minutes that baby Jesse was born on October 9th but it was actually October 8th.  And he was over 8lbs not exactly 8lbs……so if you think you won the pot based on that information OPPS, my bad!

Announcements:

  • Harvest Gala update:  Shawn reported that the committees have all been formed, let’s get out an push ticket sales, and he has a sign up sheet circulating.  Janine mentioned that if you have items to donate to let her or Tanis know.
  • Sign up sheet is circulating for our off-site meeting at BADD Cycle on October 31
  • Dawn:  November 6, Jennifer Jones former VP of Rotary International and current co-chair of End Polio Now will be speaking in Edmonton at a dinner.  Tickets are available on Clubrunner
  • Reminder that next Thursday is World Polio day.  The 3 Warkentin’s will be here to announce the winner of the pool……as long as Warkentin no. 3 is cooperating. 
Vermilion & District Chamber of Commerce update:
 
 The Vermilion & District Chamber of Commerce is currently rebranding their image in the community, they have had some “black eyes” in the past and want to present a new image to the businesses in town.  The purpose of the Chamber in the community is to be an advocate for the business owner to the government.  Alberta has a very large chamber membership which presents a very strong voice to the government.  Dave pointed out that  the chamber is a board of trade not a community organization and events held are for the good of the businesses in town.  There is always room for more members on the board and if you are a member interested in going to a meeting just let them know ahead of time.  Meetings are listed on their website.  Leanne mentioned that the VDCC has over 100 members and she is hoping to expand membership throughout the district.  Membership levels are based on the number of employees at the business and soon service groups will be able to become members.  It was also noted that the Chamber is not connected to the Town of Vermilion in any way other than to be a “friend” of the town.  Upcoming events held by the VDCC include the Festival of Trees(re-vamped), Christmas parade(Friday not Thursday this year) and th4e Christmas Gala.  For any further info check out the VDCC website https://vermilionalbertachamber.com/
 
Sargent report- Erwin himself paid a dollar for being “coy” about baby Jesse’s arrival.  The baby pool raised around $140  Erwin recited a prayer he holds dear to his heart, the “Flyers Prayer”
