Flipping Flapjacks and Other Weekend Activities

There were three tables full of Rotarians and their families (as well as others spread throughout the room) at the Beckie Scott appreciation dinner on Thursday.  Amoung the speakers were Rotarians Lloyd Snelgrove and Arnica Rowan.  Arnica presented a glass etching to Beckie on behalf of the club, commending her for her high ethical standards, and for exemplifying the four way test.  Of course, Jan and Walter Scott were front and centre and receiving accolades of their own.

On the weekend, many yawning volunteers showed their breakfast-making prowess to serve up pancakes for celebrating Vermilionites.  The seniors crowd arrived early at 8am, and were followed by many appreciative and hungry citizens.  Much of the proceeds go to supporting sport programs for kids in Vermilion and Right to Play, Beckie's charity overseas.

The same day, Telles, our new exchange student arived from Brazil.  Lorne Maier, Jocelyn Svenson, Arnica and Jason Rowan picked the weary traveller up in Edmonton.  Telles will spend his first week with Lorne and then moves to Arnica and Jason's house.
