Guest Marlene Beattie, TD Bank, invited Rotarians to volunteer three hours with other community members as they plant approximately 100 trees around Vermilion on September 17th. Volunteers are to meet at the pergola north of Webb’s Machinery at 9:00 AM. Snacks and coffee before the planting, lunch afterwards, gloves and t-shirts will be provided . Please bring a shovel.

As of this morning, our newest Honorary Rotarians are Dean McMullan and Dwight Miller. Dean was also presented with a Paul Harris Fellow. Congratulations.
Gus is playing football (it’s strange running in a helmet), is taking phys ed, social, English and art, went camping to Turtle Lake (it’s too hot to have camp fires in Brazil and we only tent for overnight, not stay in a camper for days) and went surfing (was so cold, couldn’t feel my legs). Come out and watch the next football home game!
Because some Rotarians have never tasted Derwent Pizza, we’re going on a road trip! If you’d like a taste of pizza and fun, you’re welcome to join us on October 5th (be at Kirby’s store at 5:30). This is not an official Rotarian function, just a fun road trip where you pay for your own meal. Please let Loretta know if you plan on attending so that we can make reservations and pre-order pizza.
On September 29th, we will be attending Lakeland College for an off-site meeting. The college has arranged for us to meet in the Fireside Room at 7:00. Breakfast will be provided and there will be speakers for the meeting. Then in the evening, we will meet for our Fifth Thursday Social, 6 PM, at the Golf Club. The Golf Club is providing the beef on a bun and our members will provide the salads and desserts.
