Regular Club Meeting Minutes

 

 

  1. Ring the bell, Call to Order, O Canada, Rotary Prayer   (O Lord and Giver of all good, we thank Thee for our daily food. May Rotary Friends and Rotary Ways help us to serve Thee all our days. Amen)

 

  1. The Four Way Test

Of all the things we think, say or do:

  • is the TRUTH?
  • is it FAIR to all concerned?
  • WILL it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  • will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

  1. Birthdays /Anniversary: Oct 23rd- Shawn Jacula; Scott joined Rotary Oct 21st, 17 years ago.

 

  1. Business:       
  • Interact- Kira Jarameco letting club know about the TEAL Pumpkin Project. They have a goal of 30 pumpkins for the project this year. Please feel free to donate a pumpkin to Kirby’s store or next weeks meeting. The Interact club thanks you for your support!
  • Lookout winter prep: Friday October 20 at 5:30pm please bring a push broom if you have one.   
  • Peacebuilding Conference: to be held on February 9-11, 2018 in Vancouver.  There will be a focus on how Rotary clubs can involve their local community in sustainable projects and peacebuilding.  Is there interest from anyone from our club to attend? If so, please put your name forward and the executive can look at this at the November executive meeting.  There is an early bird cost of $250 before Dec 31st  www.EnvironmentandPeace.com.
  • Reminder that Oct 24th is World Polio Day and an online one hour program at 7 pm will present interviews with Canadians and world experts on Polio regarding where were we are at in our efforts to end polio.

 

  1. District Conference: Rebekah Hiebert-Warkentin and Erwin presented on District Conference that they attended in Fort McMurray on Sept 28-30th . Both Rebekah and Erwin spoke of the powerful impact the speakers had on them personally. They heard about PTSD, Polio Eradication as well as John Montgomery’s message on focus and passion and never giving up on your dream. They had the opportunity to meet him and wear the Gold Medal John won. As well they heard from Darby Allen former Fire Chief of Fort McMurray during the fire of May 2016.

  1. Sergeant- at Arms report - Eugene was fined for beating out the kids at the Chamber Awards last night.
