Stop Hunger Now: Dawn explained the funding and costs related to the Stop Hunger Now Project.
Moved by Bruce McDuff that we allocate $18,000 to the Stop Hunger Now Project. Seconded by Brenda Lee. Motion defeated.
Moved by Brenda Lee that we commit $3,000 to the Stop Hunger Now Project. Seconded by Scott Webb. Motion carried.
Dawn will now communicate with the surrounding clubs re their intentions to commit to the Stop Hunger Now Project in light of the higher than expected costs.
Guest Audrey Pelletier presented a funding request from the Mannville Care Centre. The gazebo at the Centre needs to be replaced. Estimated material costs are $5,000 for cedar and $3,000 for a metal gazebo big enough to accommodate around twelve people. Set-up and installation costs are extra. The Centre is looking at fundraising methods including a raffle. Matter referred to the Executive. Eugene suggested that the raffle tickets be made available to Rotary members.
Teresa’s Update: Teresa has had a busy fun couple weeks as she attended Harvest Gala, her first Remembrance Day Ceremony, CFR Rodeo (“those are crazy guys”), and an Oilers hockey game. The highlight was her team’s hockey road trip, complete with a fight (“not me, I was on the bench”). Teresa has a hockey game on December 19th, 5:15 in the arena. Let’s all go cheer her on.
The first meeting of the new Interact Club will be held November 25, 6-7:00 PM at the library. Please spread the word to interested “young potential Rotarians”.
Festival of Trees, Seniors Centre, November 25-28: Susan is using the “Be a Gift to the World” theme for our barnboard tree. Work list was passed around. If you missed signing up, please give Susan a call to sign up for a shift tasting …oops selling the cookies.
