Downtown Summer Streetfest, Community Art Project, Art Market, Farmers Market, Summer Street Dance, Children Activity Centre, Play with Clay, Brown Bag Film Fest, Jazz on the Border, Fine Arts Show, Book Spine Poetry, artWalk!! All of these activities are part of the Lloydminster Arts Festival, June 11-15. Kyra Marie Stefanuk, Arts Without Borders, promises there will be something for everyone. Dawn presented the Regional Centre cheque for sound upgrades to Carol Colemen and Shawn Bell.
Kirby, Tannis and Charleen shared their experiences at the Stop Hunger Now packaging in Camrose. Their first shift was so efficient, organizers needed to stop packaging so that the second shift would have a chance at the assembly line. All packages are sent to a warehouse in California. Packages will be sent to families during disasters or to third world countries needing food. Each package is marked and packers will be notified when and where their meals are sent.
Rotary has been asked to bartend a wedding on July 1st, for a donation to the club. See Shawn if you are willing/able to help out.
This morning Dawn read a letter of resignation from Gerald Hiebert. We wish Gerald and his family all the best in Red Deer where Gerald has accepted a new job.
Kirby gave us an update on Tuesdays Habitat for Humanity BBQ. Hamburgers will again be available this Tuesday starting at 11:30 in front of Kirby’s store. Kirby promises a big surprise for those attending.
Next week our guest speaker will be Angela Wilm, Lakeland College.
There will be no meeting on June 30th. Instead Rotarians are encouraged to attend the Communities in Bloom breakfast in the morning and the Taste of Vermilion activities in the evening.
