Club Meeting May 18, 2017

 Vermilion Rotary Meeting – May 18, 2017

  1. O’Canada/Rotary Grace/Four Way Test
  2. Thank you team three for breakfast and to Justin for chairing the meeting. 
  3. Bonny Donaly was our guest this morning. 
  4. Birthdays/Anniversaries:  Happy Birthday this week  to Colton Wynnychuk (20th) and Eugene (21st).    Happy Anniversary to Craig and Bonita Brown who spent the day together making flags.  We sang Happy Birthday to Gus and enjoyed another birthday cake with him.  
  5. Dessert with Gus:  As part of his fundraising efforts, Gus will be hosting a Taste of Brazil Dessert Night, May 25th, 7:00  PM at the Brown home.  Rumor has it that he is not only providing the dessert, but that he’s  the entertainment as well.  Cost for the evening is $10.  Please RSVP with numbers to Craig or Gus.  
  6. Bruce is looking for volunteers to help him with the awning at the fair booth.  Please let him know if you can help.
  7. Bruce also reported on an Inclusion Meeting he attended (Rotary involved program employing people with special needs).  Bruce McDuff moved that we donate $250 to the program and John Lunty seconded the motion.  Motion to be tabled until the executive has had the opportunity to discuss the motion.  Scott suggested that we invite Robin Acton  (sp?) to make a presentation to the club.  
  8. Gus gave us an update on his last couple weeks.  He thanked everyone for the concern and care shown to him on the loss of his friend.  His soccer team lost their home game but Gus scored the first goal and was proud of how his team was pulling together.  He’s practising for his Taste of Brazil entertainment. 
  9. Flag Project:  Craig advised that roughly 260 flags have been sold to date.  Scott thanked Craig for his leadership of this new “feel good” project.  Craig thanked Brenda for her building skills and Shawn for his social media skills.  
  10. Rotary Lookout Cleanup is scheduled for tonight at seven for those who wish to help out.  
  11. Survey:   If you have not completed Justin’s survey, he would like your input for planning purposes.  Site is surveymonkey.com/r/DBBND98.
  12. Justin presented part of his 2017-18 budget.  Unfortunately we ran out of time to complete the presentation, so more budget at a later date.  Justin will email the budget to all members.
