Vocational - Eugene Wasylik: Born and raised in Pathfinder area. Graduated from High School in 1964 then off to University to take Education with a focus on teaching Math. Started working part time at Lakeland College helping with renovations. Taught in Derwent grade 7,8,9. In 1968 Lakeland College offered Eugene a job teaching at the college, first class teaching Math to college students. In 1968, got engaged to Carol, (they will be celebrating 48 years next week!!) and started coaching basketball for 8 years! Once married, they lived on campus. In 1973, began helping with Football team also. First son Kirk born that year. Joined Rotary in 1974, the college programming changed that year also, Eugene became an instructor of drafting and did some part time work in the community. In 1975 while             working on the next steps of his Masters, Carol began University so while raising two children they both worked and attended school both in person and from afar! Carol achieved her degree in 1979. The Apprenticeship program began in 1976, Eugene became Department Head, under Art Boggs. He stepped in to cover Art’s position in 1985 while he was on sabbatical. Eugene was Department Head for 19 years! With an interest in business, Carol and Eugene joined in the acquisition of the Brunswick for 5 years, managing it while teaching. Started a little shop in the local mall in 1987, the next thing you know they started to carry fabric and their quilting supplies!  Eugene began teaching Autocat at that time too. Eugene retired in 2001 in June, and was immediately asked to cover holidays in July of that year!         Which led to 2 and half years of continued working at college! Shortly after left Eugene was assisting his cousin. Which led to Eugene working with Leif Hanson while his partner was ill - for five years until the college called him back to tutor students in Math. Eugene believes after you retire, you need  two things, a purpose to get up and your health! Eugene does not struggle to find purpose EVER! Eugene in his spare time likes to garden, woodworking.
