Club Meeting - August 11, 2016
1. Great breakfast team two. Guests this morning were Ken Freimark and Janine Lange.
Happy Birthday to Louise Cartwright on August 14th.
2. Coat Orders: Dawn will get our Rotary crest to Craig’s so that we can get a price for orders. If you have not done so and wish to purchase a jacket, please drop by Craig’s and try on jackets (or pick your own vest, sweater, shirt etc. ).
3. Ken Freimark, our guest this morning, was recognized as the winner of the fair cash raffle. Eugene sold him the winning ticket.
4. Vermilion Elementary School Hot Lunch Program: Can you spare one and a half hours on the third Tuesday of one month in the next school term? Volunteers are invited to join Dawn in helping serve lunch at VES and then to enjoy a meal with the students and staff. Dawn has volunteered to work each Tuesday and requires two other Rotarians to help out. Please sign up at a meeting.
5. Social Committee Chair: If you are interested in heading the social committee, please see Dawn.
6. Calendar Sales: Kirby will be handing out binders in September. If you cannot canvas, there are other positions to fill to make this fundraiser successful.
7. Chamber of Commerce Gala: Moved by Brenda Lee and seconded by Jeph Myles that the Vermilion Rotary Club support the Chamber of Commerce Gala by managing the bar on October 19, 2016. Carried. Rotary will retain all the profits. Dawn and Loretta will be obtaining their pro-serve certifications. Perhaps this is something several members should consider as regulations state that ticket sellers and alcohol servers should carry this certification.
8. Community Announcements:
- Rita Swan’s Celebration of Life is August 20th, 1 PM.
- Craig advises that the Oven is more efficient now and that the “Robin designed and manufactured” doors have been added. The oven will be “cooking” each Monday in August at 6 PM. Please bring your raw product and join the crowd.
- On August 20th, Lakeland College is hosting “Feast on the Farm”. Information is in all the papers and tickets cost $100 (food and performance by the Lawrence Brothers).
9. Upcoming Rotary Events:
- Scott Webb vocational next week.
- Visit from the District Governor the last week in October.
- Rotary will have a table at the Community Sign-Up on September 10th.
