Club Meeting - April 27, 2017

 
  1.  O’Canada/Rotary Grace/Four Way Test
  2. Guests were all our garage sale volunteers.  Fifty non Rotarians volunteered sometime during the week. 
  3. Thank you teams three and  four and friends  for the awesome breakfast.   
  4.  Birthdays/Anniversaries:  Robin (April 30), Rebekah (May 3) and Darcy and Carolyn White (April 27).   
  5. WOW $29,000 IN SALES AND  1280 VOLUNTEER HOURS!  
Once again we’re over the top.This morning we celebrated a successful garage sale with members and spouses, and saluted and thanked our many community volunteers (42 staff worked opening night).The 1280 volunteer hours covered the pickups (and impromptu davenport moving ); organizing, running and selling (thank you to everyone who worked the floors before, during and after the sale);advertising (second annual production);keeping the workers fed and watered;cleanup and delivery of leftovers to our partners;and the many many hours of planning by the organizing committee (i.e. Brenda and Deb).Brenda especially thankedthe “young helpers” who volunteered their time and fresh legs to the garage sale.Thank you also to JP Petteyjohn winner ofthe 50/50 pool (short less than $50 guessing the first night $$ intake) who donated his winnings back to the garage sale.Brenda summed up the garage sale this way:yes we make money, but we also make memories, meet new friends, trade stories, share comradery and best of all, we have fun in the process.
 
Our garage sale windup wouldn’t be the same without Deb’s awards and once again some deserving ???accolades ???were handed out :
  • Loretta for missing most of the garage sale just to go to Nashville.  Thanks for the nice hat!
  • Craig is still doing penance for missing last year.  Because his team is out of the playoffs,  he earned a nice green  Saskatchewan Roughrider bell. 
  • Stuart Pauls earned the Newbie Award for selling a lot of stuff that didn’t look like books. 
  • Laurel cooked herself to the Golden Ladle award for her chicken soup and cookies and coffee and  keeping everyone fed.
  • Team White won the All in the Family Award as the sale kept the entire family hopping all week.
  • As a thank you to Gus for being a part of Team Brown and working all week, he was presented with a Canada cup (didn’t even have a chip) and a travel pillow to make his trip home comfortable.  
  • The last award was for Brenda, a huge hug!
 
  1. New Member Proposal:  JP Pettyjohn  is being proposed for Rotary membership in the Vermilion Club by John Lunty.   Any Rotary members who have comments or concerns pertaining to this proposal need to bring those to the attention of the Executive within the next week.   
  2. Don’t forget Charter Night on Sunday.
