Breakfast Meeting - November 12, 2009
Posted by Dave Dyck
Club President, Shirley McRobert chaired the meeting.
Breakfast was provided by Glen, Scott and Bruce. Thank you for a great start to the morning!
The Club decided that the Valentine's Dance would not be held in 2010.
The Club approved to sponsor a student to participate in Adventures in Citizenship in Ottawa in 2010. Brett Chetter participated in this program in 2009 and you can read about his experience on the Club Website.
The Club Christmas party is planned for November 25 at Red Feather Ridge with cocktails starting at 6:30 PM and supper at 7:00 PM. We are looking into bus for transportation to and from the party. Remember to bring an item for the food bank. You can register on the Club website or by signing up at the next Rotary Breakfast meeting. The registration fee will be confirmed shortly.
Jean introduced the morning speaker, Brenda Tyson. Brenda works with the Rotary Foundation and did a video presentation on the "Every Rotarian Every Year" initiative of the Rotary Foundation. The video gave us an overview of what the Rotary Foundation is involved in around the world. Rotarians are encouraged to donate to the Rotary Foundation to support the worldwide efforts of Rotary. The Vermilion Club has supported the Foundation well in the past with over $60,000 contributed over the years. Thanks to all Rotarians who have supported the Foundation in the past! Brenda challenged us to continue our support and provided some information on how each of us can contribute to the Foundation individually! Click Rotary Foundation for more information.
I hope you have all managed to escape the Flu bug or are at least winning the battle to recovery! Have a great week everyone!
