Breakfast Meeting - July 22, 2010
Posted by Dave Dyck
The meeting was chaired by Club President, John Lunty.
A Town Cleanup is planned for Monday July 26 at 7:00 PM. Meet at the Town Office if you can help.
Mike Bykowski is in charge of scheduling for the fair booth and reported that all the spots were filled.
We are expecting our exchange student to arrive on August 23. 3 host families are in place for Roosje.
The Rotary Club of Edmonton Northeast is hosting a speaker. Nelson Rand will present on "Thailand in Crisis: A Foreign Correspondents Perspective" Friday Aug 13; Sands Hotel, admission is $20. Everyone is invited.
The Fort Saskatchewan Rotary Club is having the Rotary River Valley Festival on August 22, 2010, featuring RCMP Musical Ride. Admission is $10.00 and everyone is invited to attend.
If you have ideas for speakers at future breakfast meetings please pass these along to John Lunty.
Our next meeting will be a road trip to the Pancake Breakfast at the Legion. We will meet at the Regional Ctr at 7 AM and then go to Legion for breakfast.
Our guest speaker for the morning was Dave Webb. Dave tlaked to us about the work they were doing in Indonesia. Dave and Lynn moved from Vermilion to West Java, Indonesia in 2008 and are working with Resource Exchange International to work with agriculture development projects. They are working with local farmers in a Mango marketing venture. Mangos are plentiful but poor infrastructure exists to market these products effectively. Dave is helping develop a dried Mango product that can be marketed in local stores and eventually internationally. More information on Resource Exchange International is available at www.reiinc.org
Have a great week everyone!
