Thanks for bringing the breakfast Bob!
The Club approved a $1,000 donation to Shelter Box. This organization provides a kit that contains a shelter for 10 people along with many items required for survival in a disaster situation. Contributions made to Shelter Box by February 12 are eligible for matching funds from the Canadian Govt. Individuals wishing to contribute to this cause can do so by making their cheque payable to Shelter Box and have the Rotary Club forward it. Individual Tax deductible receipts can be issued by Shelter Box. More information is available on the District web site.
Curtis Gorkoff was our guest speaker for the morning. Curtis competes nationally and internationally in Karate. Curtis started in the sport at the age of 8 and has been competing in Canada for 12 years and internationally for the last 4 years. In November Curtis had the opportunity to represent Canada at the Pan Am competition in Cuaiba, Brazil. His main event as an individual is the Kata competition where he placed 7th. In a team event, Curtis' team took home the bronze.
Thanks for speaking to us this morning Curtis! All the best in the future!
Please check out the link to the District web site, read the article on the Shelter Box program and consider a personal contribution to the people of Haiti.
Have a great week everyone!
