Breakfast Meeting - December 3, 2009

Club President, Shirley McRobert chaired the morning meeting.
Thanks to John Lunty for providing us with a great breakfast!
The Club Christmas Party on November 25th was a success. Over forty members and guests attended the event at Red Feather Ridge. The venue and the dinner were an excellent choice providing a great opporutnity to socialize with fellow rotarians and guests. Eugene was presented with his 2nd pin as a Paul Harris fellow. Barry also recieved a Paul Harris pin in recognition of serving as club President last year. Thanks to Shirley McRobert for organizing this wonderful evening!

Our last Bingo raised $460 for our Club. Thanks to the volunteers who are travelling to St. Paul to raise these funds for our Club!
Our executive has been busy planning for various events in 2010. Each of these events will be announced as dates approach and as details are finalized. Sounds like an exciting 2010 coming up!
John Lunty is organizing a Thursday night curling league. If you are interested in entering a team please talk to John.
Eileen introduced the guest speaker, Christine Smith, representing the County of Vermilion Youth Justice Committee. This committee is made up of local volunteers who work with youth between the ages of 12 to 17. Youth, who are typically first time offenders, have an opportunity to do community service with this committee in lieu of going through the court system and ending up with a criminal record. This program has a very high success rate. Thanks Christine for providing us with a very informative presentation this morning!
The club agreed to donate $1,000 to St. Jerome's School to assist with the costs of bringing Dwayne Peace from Dare to Care to come and speak to the students.
Our club also donated $1,000 to the local food bank and $500 to Santas Anonymous.
Peter Yeung joined us for the morning and talked about the "Challenge Days" program at Lloydminster schools. Approximately 100 kids voluntarily participate in a one day session, along with teachers and adult volunteers. The session takes them through various excercises to help them improve attitudes and communication skills.
Peter is also the area representative for World Community Service. His organization assists community groups who are interested in getting involved with international service projects. Thanks for joining us this morning Peter!
The club decided that Oktoberfest would be held again on October 16, 2010.
