Business
- Garage Sale Update (Scott Webb) – We have a huge task ahead of us, committee meetings will be held the week after next. We need to name a signature project for the Garage sale. Scott reviewed our past signature projects including last years Drone for the Vermilion Fire Dept. Scott has approached the Fire Department regarding an ongoing relationship involving a donation in exchange for help with the garage sale. Possible ideas are the Seniors Centre, possibly the Playground but that may be a ways out, Focus adopt a ride, Sound system in the Regional Centre. If you have a good idea, please bring it to Scott’s attention.
- Playground Update (Erwin) – Update: The Federal Govt. has denied funding of the project. The Provincial Government has also declined to sponsor the project. We have not abandoned hope for funding but we will need to put more information together to bolster the viability of the project. Scott suggests that we need to have firm monetary commitment to take forward into the grant process. Bruce motions that we “The Rotary Club commit 50,000 towards development a playground facility at the “Hospital Hill” site on Park Drive and 57th street”. Seconded by Darlene. Discussion: Eugene confirms that we have funds available, and Bruce wanted to confirm that we will revisit the Grants with committed funds in place. Are we confident that this is enough? At this time we think it is. Vote- Motion Passed!
- Flag Project (Erwin) – We need someone to audit the payments and Lisa Volunteered to take this on. We will be having a repair day sometime over the next couple of months.
- Vulnerable Sector Check – All of our checks are at this point out of date. We need to apply for updates from our local police detachments. Erwin will draft a letter and we will need to take it and apply at the attachments. This should be done prior to the Garage sale specifically.
- Rotary Naming – Rotary International has decided that it is no longer advised to name things after Rotary. Existing items will be grandfathered in, but moving forward things should be tagged with “sponsored by” for example.
