Business
  • Funding Request Ainsley ‘Dolly’ Lehne – Motion from Laurel -That the Rotary Club of Vermilion sponsor Ainsley Lehne in the amount of $500 to help with costs associated with the Lucy Olphert Show Jumping and Global Amateur Tour, seconded by Bruce – Discussion we have help fund local representatives that have gone to international events. This looks to fall under our youth focused approach as a club. – Motion Passed as presented.
  • Funding Request Friends of the Vermilion Regional Centre – Motion from Laurel That the Rotary Club of Vermilion fund the cost of a onetime movie licence up to a maximum cost of $650.00, for the Friends of the Vermilion Regional Centre to utilize for a ‘Family Movie Night’ fundraiser. Seconded by Bevin. Discussion – They have updated us with a request for 2 Lic since their ask was brought to the executive. Bruce asked for an update to our finances. Given that we have availability in our budget Bruce asked for a friendly amendment to up the maximum to $1200, accepted.  Shawn asked if we wanted to change it to just donate the funds without restriction. Dawn suggested that we may want to exercise caution in the new reality of asks. Amended Motion from Laurel That the Rotary Club of Vermilion donate $1200.00 to the Friends of the Vermilion Regional Centre to utilize for fundraising towards updating the sound system. Seconded by Bevin. Motion Passed as amended.
  • Toddler Playground – Other avenues for funding are being leveraged in conjunction with out grant application, ongoing.
  • Vermilion Minor Hockey – We have asked back for some clarification from Vermilion Minor Hockey. Note that this year we have not given them any funds because there was not a team available for Rotary to sponsor this year. Minor hockey is currently reworking their approach to funding and fundraising.
  • Adventure Camps – Lorne is away this week. Laurel filling in. Lorne has identified a student to attend.
  • ‘Harvest Gala’: Rebekah is willing to co-chair, we are looking for someone else to step into that roll. Shawn is not sure if we should look to Re-Brand Harvest Gala to something else. Shawn is not confident that the current model will work as well given the new reality. It was brought up that the Lions put on their event in a much smaller scale and it seemed to work very well.
  • Charter Night – Looking for nominations for Charter night. Shawn wondering if there might be an opportunity to combine Charter Night with a Re-branded Harvest Gala? Lisa is wondering what is on the Radar for the “Next Big” community need. Lisa knows that childcare is a huge issue in Vermilion.
  • Piano – Thanks to those members that helped move the New Old piano over to the club room.
