Business
  • Two Rotarians received Queen’s Platinum Jubilee medals. Scott Webb and Brenda Lee.
  • Vermilion Minor Hockey: Sarah Kastendieck VP of Development.  VMHA has 196 Minor Hockey players this year. Minor associations are loosing players to private leagues. There are many players that have been joining players to alternate leagues. They are working on several initiatives to try and build the programs to meet more needs. A new direction has been for tournament funding where each team is given $1,000 to be spent locally. Another great program that has developed is their “Good Deeds” program. The intent is now to have a wind-up gala to have minor hockey players, parents etc. get together for a celebration of the year. Jersey sponsorship has dropped a little due to the number of teams dropping. There was not a Rotary team available this year. They still have the Jersey sponsorship program. Vermilion minor hockey is currently updating the Jerseys. Due to a lack of hotels in Vermilion teams attending tournaments have had to stay out of town. Big emphasis on spending tournament promoting money locally. Tournaments are the primary fundraising source. VMHA has been able to keep fees low due to the success of fund raising.
  • Darlene Barlow: Jean Vidal contacted Darlene about a Piano to replace the old Rotary Piano. The old one is on its last legs, and may be a great item at the Garage Sale. She will get back to them to determine when it would need to be moved.
  • Dawn Riley: Focus is fundraising with “Chase the Ace” tickets. They are available at stores around town.
  • Note the music festival is still a go, numbers are way down but they have decided to go ahead to try and build up the festival again.
  • If members are interested in getting involved with Harvest Gala, please contact Erwin. Things need to start moving forward if we are going to have the Gala this year.
