Observances and Fun Facts
Business
- Haying in the 30’s – Dawn update – the Chamber is only doing the Parade. We can still do the Parade and the Hallway of Handicrafts. The Parade is November 24th. Thoughts. Bruce says he can man a booth if needed. Official request for cookies is now on. Haying in the 30’s helps families that are going through Cancer treatments to help with their expenses. Dawn will put the request out to the community. We will have a packaging event before the event.
- Playground Update – Meeting with Sara from the Town today. They have a number of grants that can be applied for. We are hoping that the Club gives the commitment to go forward to apply for Grants. Dave Motions that: That the Rotary Club of Vermilion authorize the Playground Committee to apply for grants that do not require a confirmed financial commitment from the club. Seconded by Bruce. Discussion. Carried.
- VIBE Presentation – Pat – They are still enjoying and using the Slumberkins that Rotary Donated last year. They are going to do an Easter egg hunt, pre-school to Grade 3 (located at the Elks Hall) Wanting to know if Rotary would like to partner with Vibe, and the Elks (who are providing the hall) in this venture. So, there will be an Egg hunt to qualify for a Duck Draw where they would draw a Duck to get a prize. They are looking for 590$ in a start-up, and probably an ongoing 300$ budget in ongoing years once some of the permanent supplies like Ducks are already in place. Vibe is very active with projects in the community. Outside of Vibe Pat is also active with Santa’s Anonymous, she dropped off paperwork for families that we may know are in need. Also dropped off a Poster for the Lion’s Prime Rib Dinner night. Last year Santa’s helped about 70 families in the area. They cover Islay, Minburn, Mannville, Clandonald and Vermilion.
