- Brenda-August Furniture sale- update- Thanks everyone for the help. There was 116 items up for auction and 102 of these sold, the remaining 14 had no bids and were taken to the Olive Tree in Lloydminster. There are still 11 items not paid for and Brenda is unable to contact the successful buyer. If the buyers are not reached the item will go to the previous bidder and if not the item will be donated to the Olive Tree. Brenda calculated that between Wednesday and Monday, 165 volunteer hours were logged by Rotarians and family. $4179 has been collected so far and Brenda considers the Online furniture sale to be a success!
- There will officially be no Garage Sale or Charter Night for the 2019/20 Rotary year
- Dawn would still like to hold the Integrity Awards to honor community members that go above and beyond in our town and surrounding area. She called for nominations of non-Rotarians, 1 male, 1 female by September 15. The awards will be presented in accordance with Covid-19 safety protocols
- Foundation Update-Dawn received some resources from Tim Shields on fundraising ideas that she will share with us at a later date. Funds donated 3 years ago are being allocated this year and the pool is down 20%. You also no longer need matching funds to apply for a global grant.
- Youth Exchange-Dawn let members know that the application deadline to be included in the international youth exchange program is August 31. There was general discussion among members present on the pros and cons of going forward with this program during the current conditions. Eugene Wasylik made a motion to opt out of the Youth exchange program for the 2021/22 year. Scott Webb seconded. All present were in favor. Motion carried.
- Books for Belize update. Robin has concerns regarding the shipping of the Sea Can at this time, not only due to Covid-19 gathering crowds but also the rotating strike of dock workers and a rise in crime. He will put this on hold for now
- Save the Date: Saturday September 12. District Conference will be held online, 1 day only starting at 9am. www.vision2020rotary5370conference.ca/ visit the Rotary District 5370 website to register(no charge). Mike would like to attend as a group and turn it into a fun/social event. Dawn would like to hold a 50/50 draw at this as well with the proceeds going to Pints for Polio
Sargent report- Erwin called upon Brenda to pass the ball to a Rotarian for a good, bad or evil deed. She passed it along to Kirby because the Furniture Man did not attend the Furniture Online sale….
