Announcements:
- Thank you Team 3 for breakfast
- Erwin-Update on the Flag work bee held holiday Monday. Only 2 bees showed up to the hive, the rest must have been hibernating. This bee has short term memory loss and forgot. Erwin and Mike W did a quick overview of the flags and there are a few that need replacing and some poles as well. Many need new Canada rubber balls for the top. If you have any questions regarding the flags or pre-sales contact Erwin or Mike W.
- Rebekah presented Dawn Riley and Craig Brown with their Paul Harris +5
- Dawn Riley announcements 1)Purple Pinkie day is March 12 2) we will need to start thinking of host families for our exchange student 3) Charter night is in 2 months and nominees needed for the Intregrity Awards 4) she has started the application for the cash draws
- Janine reminded everyone to complete their surveys
- Criminal/Vulnerable Persons record check-If anyone needs information on how, where etc contact Laurel or Lisa
New Business:
- Dance Impressions by Ryan students- Pheonix Wilson, Jett Wilson, Aaralyn Tupper and Asian Clark presentation on their trip to Riesa, Germany with Team Canada Dance for the IDO World Championships. Each of the dancers gave a brief talk about the highlights of their trip and their experiences. 32 countries participated in the competition and thousands of spectators were in the stands watching all of the performances. Pheonix Wilson said that her days were very long but she learned so much. She was able to visit family in Germany and comes home having gained confidence in dance. The other 3 dancers that went were on the Children’s team, who came in 6th place overall. Aaralyn Tupper enjoyed a trip to Prague with her family while on down time from the competition. Jett Wilson was one of only 3 boys in children’s tap, he was excited to see the Berlin Wall and visited a chocolate factory. Asia Clarke said she enjoyed experiencing a new culture, and along with her Grandma, tried out many new foods. All of the Dance Impressions by Ryan students said how proud they were of their team, and how much they enjoyed and learned from their experience dancing in a competition at this level. They thanked the Rotary for donating to this endeavor.
- Eugene Wasylik brought forward the following motion as a result of Craig Brown’s announcement that they will be moving. Eugene Wasylik moved that Darlene Barlow be set up as one of the signing authorities for the Rotary Club of Vermilion. Craig Brown seconded. Motion carried
Sargent report-Erwin let members know that he had once been a ballroom dancer, and fined members who had never been a part of organized(or unorganized) dance!
