Announcements:
- The PeeWee girls hockey team will be hosting the Provincial PeeWee girls hockey tournament this March 26-29 with 7 teams in attendance. They are looking for sponsorship, volunteers and lots of spectators to come cheer them on. They need to raise $24350.00 to cover costs such as facility rental, banquet, and officials. They will not be charging admission to watch the games to give everyone a chance to attend, therefore, they will not be recovering costs from gate fees. Each family of the players(16 players) has committed to find $1000 in sponsorship and they are looking to other sources to bridge the gap of $8350. They are looking to the Rotary Club for any type of sponsorship or donation. Mary Lee explained to the PeeWee group that this request will be discussed at the executive meeting on February 4/20 and then brought before the club the following Thursday February 6 at the monthly business meeting. Coach Sheila Cadman said to watch for information on the March tournament and this weekends tournament on the Vermilion RockSolid PeeWee girls Facebook page or follow them on Instragram
- Presentations were made by Mary Lee to the following members: Jean Vidal-Paul harris +2 and Rebekah Warkentin -Paul Harris +3 and +4
- Membership-Janine provided some information that came from the brief new membership discussion session last week. She is creating 3 surveys to be done on Survey monkey targeting 3 different areas 1) past members 2) active members and 3) prospective members. Jean prepared some information sheets and members brainstormed at their tables. Some of the ideas brought forth were 1) tag team to approach prospective new members ie; maybe a boss doesn’t ask their employee just to avoid any uncomfortable feelings so tag teams another member to talk to them, post on our social media things like personal stories of our members to let prospective Rotarians know we are approachable average people, promote corporate or partner memberships. If anyone has any other suggestions for Janine shoot her an email.
