- Sign up sheet is circulating for the Christmas Meeting on December 19
- After the presentation from Barry Scinski, Principal of the Outreach school, the rotary members cleaning up after the Haying in the 30’s fundraiser decided to deliver the leftover cookies to the school. We have been invited to the Outreach School Christmas Potluck lunch on Dec 17 and noon. If you plan on attending please let Mary Lee know and perhaps take a non perishable item for your contribution, then if there are left-overs the students can have them. Mike Webb suggested we donate the leftover breakfast items from our Thursday meetings to assist with their breakfast program and he volunteered to deliver on our behalf. The executive discussed the idea of increasing the annual donation, Brenda Lee suggested that we save that discussion for next years budget.
- Audit of our Books-A motion was passed at the last business meeting to have Deborah Tovell do the audit of Rotary’s books again. After the motion passed, Eugene received the bill and it had increased from $3300.00 to $4800.00. Upon further review by the executive, it was decided to put a recommendation forward to the club to rescind the motion. Our bylaws state that an audit must be performed and because of our status as a society, this does not have to be done by an accountant but can be done by a qualified person. Eugene Wasylik made a motion to rescind the motion. Brenda Lee seconded. Motion carried.
Mike Webb made a motion that the Rotary Club of Vermilion engage a qualified individual who is not a member of the Rotary Club to audit and review our books following the conclusion of the 2019-2020 fiscal year, and that following that audit of the books, the audit and the books be reviewed by the current Club President prior to presentation of the financial statements to the club at the next annual meeting. Dave Bates seconded. Motion carried.
- Vibe Funding request-VIBE was short $11,862 as per the information provided at their presentation. FCSS has provided $5500.00. We are recommending to the club a one time donation of $1000.00. Jean Vidal made a motion to provide a one time donation of $1000.00 to VIBE. Erwin Warkentin seconded. Motion carried
- JR Curling-Last week the JR Ladies Comp Curling Team asked for a donation which get our logo on each of their curling jackets. Lisa Beveridge made a motion to support the JR Ladies CCT in the amount of $250.00. Lorne Maier seconded. Motion carried
- Wellness Coalition-funding request of $600.00 for 2 sessions of swimming, increase from last year of $200.00. Based on the information at hand the executive recommended that we donate the amount of $400.00, the same as last year. Laurel Wynnychuk made a motion to provide the Wellness Coalition with $400.00 for swimming. Darlene Barlow seconded. Lorne Maier asked the executive why we weren’t funding the requested amount and upon further discussion throughout the members, we discovered that over 100 kids participated in the event and it was named the “Rotary Swimming Day”. Lorne Maier made a motion to amend the previous motion to $600.00 Justin Thompson seconded. Laurel moved to donate the amount of $600.00 to the Wellness Coalition. Motion carried.
- Foundation-matching funds-The club will match up to the first $100 of any Rotarian who donates funds to the Foundation from November 1 2019 to January 31, 2020.
