Vocational: Lisa Beveridge (written in the third person….feels so odd!)
Lisa was born in the General Hospital in Calgary, AB. Her dad(Jack) was born in Goodsoil, SK and worked in Calgary in the Finance/Lending world. Her mom(Isobel) was born in Scotland and immigrated to Canada in 1948, ultimately settling around Millarville/Turner Valley area. Jack’s job required a lot of moving, Regina, Saskatoon, Prince Albert, Red Deer, Black Falds and then back to Calgary, all before Lisa started grade 1. In 1971, Jack, his brother Tony and brother-in-law Mario decided to look for a hotel to buy and the Brunswick Hotel in Vermilion was for sale, so in 1972 Lisa moved with her parents to Vermilion and has been here ever since. Among her first jobs were, cleaning hotel rooms, daily cash deposits for the bar, answering a switchboard. After graduation, she took a Fashion Merchandising course in Calgary, which taught the basics of retail sales & marketing. She moved back to Vermilion and took a year of Business Admin at Lakeland college, she landed a job at the CIBC prior to her second year. Over the years, Lisa has worn many hats, Travel agent, Auction market admin, personal loans officer, Hardware Store associate, house reno/flipper, and office admininstrator/bookkeeper. All of her experience has lead her to her latest venture. In May, along with her 2 daughters, she purchased the Benjamin Moore store in downtown Vermilion. Her interests include furniture restoration, sewing and gardening. She is a member of the Lakeland Pipes & Drums, and has learned to play the bagpipes in the last 4 years.
Sargent report: Erwin Warkentin: Erwin had some “word riddles” for the group. If you didn’t give an answer at all….pay up
