Introduction:
Bob Bezpalko, Executive Director of the Allberta Information Hub(Alberta HUB) REDA-Regional Economic Development Alliances
Bob gave us a very interesting and informative update of what is happening in North East Alberta in regards to attracting new investors to our area.  HUB goals are
  • Investment attraction/expansion and retention
  • Business support/entrepreneurship
  • Enhance community readiness for investment marketing
HUB works closely with the AB Government focusing on the regions industry sectors
Oil & gas, manufacturing, tourism, agriculture, tourism, forestry, renewable energy, Aerospace technology & defence
Our Mission:
“To promote and facilitate economic development that supports business and enhances the quality of life and environment of its member communities.” (taken from the HUB website)
Some opportunities are; Ag plastic recycling, culinary tours(tourism), solar farms(renewable energy).  These can be achieved through the use of online platforms and websites, investment fact sheets, regional profiles.
One of the barriers to attracting investment is broadband coverage.  The Alberta HUB hopes to provide information in a user friendly way and all of their information can be found on their website
