- Please remember that since there are ‘back to school’ sales on, this is a good time to pick up supplies for individual donation to ‘books for Belize’. Items needed…looseleaf paper, construction paper
- Dawn mentioned that Jennifer Jones RIVP will be in the Edmonton area in early November and there will be a Polio fundraising dinner held on Nov 6, no firm details at this time as to venue. Dawn will let us know
- Thanks to Dawn for joining the Foundation committee, we still need one more person to sign up
- Sign up sheet circulating for the off-site breakfast at the Copper Cork on August 29.
- FYI Town of Vermilion “Think Ice” meeting to be held Wed Aug 28 at the stadium. If you plan to attend please RSVP to Nadine at the town. This may be a project we will be focusing on for fundraising at the Harvest Gala

Vocational Presentation: Dave Bates
Yes he is Shelly Bates(who works at the hospital) husband but no not Kirbys cousin. Born and raised in Saskatchewan. Graduated from high school in North Battleford, became a journeyman mechanic and worked as such in North Battleford. In 1990 he moved to Vermilion and took a mechanic position at Rowe & Sons. When Rowe’s garage closed, he returned to College and became an electrician. In 2000 he took an 8 month contract position as an Electrical instructor Lakeland College in Vermilion and he is still with the college. His main focus through those years was raising his 2 children, who have been very involved in sports. His daughter is a nurse and was married last week in Camrose and his son studied Kinesiology but has now decided to join the trades and become a carpenter. Once his children grew up he decided to join Rotary to “give back” to his community. He has been a big part of our club ever since he joined. His hobbies included fishing, woodworking and cruising on his motorbike.
Sargent’s report-share bad parenting advice you received when you were expecting…..lol. Erwin also shared that Nigeria has now been listed as “polio free”
