Presentation of ‘Past President’ pin to Rebekah
Dance Impressions –Indiviual Dancers funding request: Recommend brought forward from the executive 04to donate $200 to each dancer ( Pheonix Wilson, Jett Wilson, Aralyn Tupper & Asia Clark)attending the International Dance Organization championships in Germany in November. Justin Thompson moved that the Rotary donate $200 to each dancer. Darlene Barlow second. Some discussion regarding the amount being donated and if this is setting a precedent for future funding requests. It was concluded that this not just a provincial or national event but local youth representing our community in an International Dance competition as a part of Team Canada. This reflects positively upon local Rotary supporting youth for international events. The motion was voted on and carried
Vermilion Public Library- Recommend from executive to approve $750 towards the purchase of an institutional Lego set to provide a ‘Lego and Literacy’ program at the library. Laurel Wynnychuk moved to donate $70 to the library. Robin Sherwood second. Club members suggested that we table the motion until after Stewart from the library does his presentation on the program and what the funds will be used for. Dave Bates moved that the motion be tabled. Shawn second
Reminder of District Governor visit July 17 & 18. July 17 the executive will meet with the DG 5:30 at the Masonic Hall(4902-50 Ave) for supper, followed by a potluck desset(meet & greet) for all members starting at 7pm. July 18 breakfast meeting in the Rotary room, teams 3 & 4 to do breakfast
Cheque presentation to Vermilion Housing Foundation-Final payment to the Lodge made by Rebekah and Craig received by Paul Kim(CEO for the Foundation). Short update on the progress of the lodge by Mr. Kim. Initial budget set for $14 million is currently $525,000 overbudget mostly due to unforeseen circumstances such as asbestos reclamation. The project is also several months behind schedule. Brenda Lee mentioned that the Vermilion Rotary Club should be proud for all the hard work to raise funds and Craig Brown agreed that we need to give ourselves a big pat on the back.
