Presentation - Avery - Rotary Adventures in Citizenship-It was tons of fun and amazing! Became good friends and still keep in contact with the girls who stayed with the same host family. Some highlights: War Museum; presentations from diverse cultures and backgrounds on topics such as indigenous dance, French Canadian singing and dance, a speaker who had been a foster child, conflict & conflict resolution. Avery went to Parliament-first RAiC to sit in the House of Commons chairs- showed a picture sitting in the Prime Minister’s chair. Canadian Citizenship Ceremony made an impact- Avery said she is just born into this with freedoms and rights. At the ceremony the immigrants were pledging allegiance to Canada; they have to work for it and it is a big deal to them. The whole ceremony has made her appreciate her citizenship. One of the biggest things was the meeting of new friends; although from different backgrounds, they are still Canadian.

Craig & Scott - Ride to Conquer Cancer: This year they have built a team of 5 from Vermilion. They are paying their own way but fundraising for Ride to Conquer Cancer. If you want to donate, you can donate individually or to team. If you donate by team, Craig and Scott will split equally the donation. They are wanting/planning to do a fundraiser at pizza oven sometime this summer. Ride is 200km, August 17&18. From Calgary to Sundre and back. You may see them out training on the highways-give them a friendly honk.
Interact-Rhys-Long Table Supper: Interact Long Table Dinner is Thursday, May 30th at 6:30pm. Have 300 tickets printed. The caterer and entertainment are lined up. They will have farm plates that can be picked up for delivery to field. Have just found out that they need to have numbers by noon today. Have sold 100-110 tickets. $20 regular ticket, $15 farm plate ticket, $12/child, 5 and under free. Proceeds go towards the construction of the Vermilion Ice Plant.

Laurel – Need Youth Outbound Counsellor– Received from the District the invitation to apply for Youth Exchange Program for 2020/2021. The deadline to apply is June 15/2019. We have an Inbound Counsellor-Dawn, and Youth Chair-Laurel. We need an Outbound Counsellor. Some of the duties would include recruitment of a student, interview, going to training, being liaison between club and student, and keeping in contact with student while on exchange. If you are interested or have questions, please talk to Laurel.

MaryLee- Budget Discussions 2019/2020- Went over budget lines that have changes from last year. Dues, meeting room rental, school awards, exchange program, Rotary Adventure camps, St. J playground, AED, Canada Flags, bartending, Books for Belize, PR & Social fund. Discussion on some items. MaryLee will be making adjustments for discussion and approval of budget.
Sargent Report-no sargent today. MaryLee-we made it through first meeting so no fines.
