Announcements:

Thank you to Team 2 for Breakfast.

Rotary Club of Lloydminster:  Celebrated 90 years as a Rotary Club with a lovely evening, that Rebekah and Erwin attended, as well as the District Governor and many other invited guests.

Incoming Executive:  If you are on the incoming executive, there will be a meeting on Tuesday, April 16th at 5:30 at Prairie Place.

Charter Night is Sunday, April 28th: A sign up sheet is being circulated for attendance and invitations have been distributed. Please RSVP by April 14th.  Join us in celebrating our integrity award winners, our club’s 64th anniversary and hearing the winners perform from the Music festival.

Garage Sale Breakfast Celebration: Sign-up sheet will be passed around for Thursday, April 18th.  If you are able to contribute a dish that greatly assists the breakfast team and coordinators to make sure there is lots of food.   It is our tradition to invite the non-rotarian volunteers who helped at garage sale to join us for breakfast.

Roots of Empathy:   As a sponsor of the Roots of Empathy program, we have been invited to the final celebration party for the 2A class which takes place Tuesday, April 16th at 12:30 at the Vermilion Elementary School.  The celebration for the second class will likely be in early June.  If you are interested in attending, please let Rebekah know and she will pass that along to Sharleen.

Town Clean-up: Town clean-up is the week of April 29th to May 4th.  Rotary has not signed up for an area.  From our discussion last year, we determined that this was not a high priority project for the club, especially given the number of other Rotary fundraisers and events taking place in April and May.  If you would like to assist with the Town clean-up, please contact Nadine Ferbey at the Town.

Garage Sale: Brenda: IT’S SHOW TIME!  The curling rink is filled and ready.  We could not have done it without the help of all of the non-Rotarians and youth organizations.  We are thankful for all of the volunteers from outside who are helping us support our causes.  If you did not volunteer you have missed out on the fun, comradery, volunteerism, and the many accolades from the community.  We have left a lasting impression on the community.  We have had many Facebook shares spreading the word, and phone calls for information.

Our goal is to be good stewards of the communities generosity.  We have purged items that are partial or broken so we are left with saleable items.  We use those funds from the sales generous donations to support our community projects.  We provide a valuable service to the community.  There is no pricing on items.  You want to get a reasonable donation for the items.  On Thursday, we have the best selection and greatest amount of people, so we want to maximize our donations.   It is not a blow-out tonight.  You can ask the person what they think the value is - you can ask them to consider that their donation goes back into the community- and know of some projects that we have donated to in the past.  Garage salers love to deal.

NEW-Christmas in April.  Bag sale starting tonight (Thursday).  Loretta will have bags to hand out.  There is lots of Christmas items but it is April and many are not thinking about Christmas.  There has been Facebook posts to create interest and have something new for this year.

Thank-you to Rotarians, spouses, friends of Rotary, and family who have spent many hours cleaning, sorting, purging.

Please be at the curling rink no later than 4:45pm.  Come in the side door, it will be open about 4pm.  In the past, Dean McMullen has been our sentinel, watching the door, greeting people, making eye contact, providing respect and confidence in our items.  This year Mr. Chase and Mr. MacMillan will be our sentinels.  St. Jerome’s is very grateful for our generous donation and we have appreciated their support with our garage sale.   Parking- park away from customer parking.  North towards the United Church booth, east of Butler building or at the front of curling rink-eastside.  Washroom are available for customers in the vestibule of the Stadium.  Volunteers may use the lobby washrooms.  The Vermilion Museum will again have a concession outside.  There will be refreshment in lobby for volunteers.   Loretta is lead on the vintage items.  It is silent bid (not silent auction).  There are 12 baskets made up.

Suggestions for negotiating items.  Many people come with $20’s from an ATM.  Turn the offer into an amount plus a donation amount to be a multiple of 20.  Often when you ask what a customer would offer it is higher than you would have suggested.  Use some discretion and read the circumstance.  Use other Rotarians to bounce the price off of or help with pricing.  The forecast is calling for winds, which may have some affect because we have to keep the door open.

RYPEN- Alyssa Upton, who is Selene’s younger sister, is going to RYPEN.  Lorne is working on getting a student for Human Rights Camp.

Sergeant’s Report:  If you haven’t volunteers yet, then pay a dollar.
