New Business:
  1. Paul Kim ,CEO Vermilion Valley Lodge, sent a formal letter of request to see if we would like to move our weekly Rotary meetings to the Rotary Room at the lodge.  Upon discussion, the executive decided to keep the meetings located in the Regional center for several reasons 1)ground level access  2) locked storage area  3)lots of parking  4)professional area to bring guests and speakers. The rent would remain the same if we switched location  The executive recommended to meet at the lodge on an occasional basis such as once or twice a year and to keep weekly meetings on a consistent basis at the Regional Center.
  2. Susan McCulley, Volunteer Coordinator AHS-sent a request for funding to Rotary for bussing from the schools for students for volunteer with the seniors.  She subsequently rescinded this request saying that the correct way would be the schools requesting the funding.  The executive will recommend to Susan that the letter of request would need to come from the schools and to include the plan and cost
  3. PeeWee Girls funding request-following the presentation from the PeeWee girls hockey team, the executive recommended to the club a donation of $500.00.  Rebekah Warkentin moved that the Rotary Club of Vermilion donate $500.00 to the PeeWee girls hockey team to assist with hosting Provincials.  Laurel Wynnychuk seconded.  Motion carried.  Rebekah noted that the recommendation was based on the same amount given to the boys for Provincials previously
  4. “Come by the Hills” music festival-a funding(sponsorship) request was received from festival organizers.  This was not recommended by the executive or the members as it does not fit our mandate.  All in agreement
  5. Training for 2020/2021-March 9th Foundation Training (Robin & Mike).  Foundation Grants Training Webinars April 2,7,15,22@ 7pm or April 11 @9am (Robin & Mike)
  6. Flag Project-Erwin is hoping to have a work bee in the next couple of weeks to check the flags and poles.  He wants to get them in top shape, the sooner the better and will let us know when he would like to meet.  He is also thinking of setting up a table at the Garage Sale (not the Thursday) and possible have non-Rotarians that have been touched by Rotary to man it.  Mary-lee is also working on a mass email notice for flags to sell online.  We had $1000 in the budget from 2019 for flag repairs, replacement etc., that was not used.  We now have $2000 available, so if we need to order replacement flags we can do so and should as soon as possible
  7. Rotary District bonspiel-Eugene, Carol, Mike B and Shaun are attending the Rotary Bonspiel in Grande Prairie on Feb 20-23.  Eugene suspects that next year’s(2021) will probably be held in Central Alberta and has requested approval to host the bonspiel if a location is needed. This would include a Thursday night reception/bar, Friday & Saturday banquets.   The executive recommended to host and all members agreed.
  8. Student Exchange-Kirby informed the members that Katon Powell from Cold Lake has been approved to be an exchange student and that we will be hosting an exchange student in the upcoming year.  Katon would like to do a fundraiser in Cold Lake to raise awareness for Rotary.  Kirby suggested a shelter box possible, and Scott suggested to involve her parents.  With their involvement with the military, they might have some good ideas for fundraising opportunities on the base or in their community.  We will find out which country she is going to by month end.
  9. Mary Lee received an invitation to the Lakeland College Donor appreciation dinner.  It is customary for the current President and one other executive member to attend.
  10. Reminder to please get your criminal record check done!
  11. Name correction-Director of Primary Care Network should be Brian Match not Ron Match
  12. Mary Lee will be away and the business meetings for March, April and May will be the 2nd Thursday of the month.  April will be the 3rd Thursday
Cash Draw  $150.00 Jennifer McGinnis     $100.00  Bill Mayowski

Sargent report-  Erwin fined those people missing their name tags and he noted these dates in history:  102 years ago women earned the right to vote in England and 104 years ago Canada gets the right to vote.  We have come a long way in a short time!!
