Presentation by Peter Walsh on behalf of the Lakeland Rowing club
The Rowing club is requesting funding assistance for new floatation devices for their docks. The Rotary assisted the club in the past with funding for construction of their boathouse. The club has been active since 1996 and the dock is and has been there for community use. The dock system currently uses Styrofoam blocks, the Club would like to move so a more sustainable floating system for the docks. Alberta Parks is not in favor of using Styrofoam for floatation because they will deteriorate over time and be released into the water system. The Rowing Clubs request is for $1500 to help cover costs for replacing the current Styrofoam system with Plastic cubes. They are expecting that the cost of the project will be $7000(conservative estimate) and they have received $1000 from the Vermilion Credit Union and a $2000 grant from the Town of Vermilion. The club itself will cover 50% of the cost. They would like to complete this project by spring of 2021. Mike let Peter know that the executive will review his request and present to the club in the New Year.
