Call to order 7 am VIRTUAL ZOOM Meeting
I must admit to a failure to adjust quickly to the concept of virtual meetings, several times I found myself drifting off in thought to other things lol, so if I missed anything please feel free to give me a virtual nudge and I will correct the minutes. TIA Lisa

Announcements:
- Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Rotary student exchange program has been cancelled for this year. There was some discussion around whether or not our student could try to go next year, but because of her age this may not be an option. Kirby has been in discussions regarding this and is waiting for information.
New Business:
- The annual Charter night and Integrity Awards has been postponed from May to possibly September. To be discussed at a later date.
- Garage Sale date for April has been cancelled, we will be looking at possibly setting a new date at our first meeting in May.

Rotary District 5370 Rotary Foundation Committee COVID – 19 Response:
The Rotary Foundation has made changes to District Grants and Global Grants to help Rotary clubs respond to issues created by the pandemic both locally and internationally.
District Grants:
• Can use funds to support local activities such as purchasing thermometers, medical gear or other items to support medical professionals
• As a onetime exception the Foundation will allow expenditures related to COVID-19 incurred since March 15, 2020 to be reimbursed as part of a 2020-21 district grant application
• D5370 has a contingency fund of $6,500 available to support current initiatives related to COVID-19 in the 2019-20 Rotary year
• Will provide 13 $500 grants based on club applications between now and April 17, 2020. Apply to Tim Schilds at timschilds@telus.net with details of your request
. • Preference will be given to applications that address the needs of the indigenous community
• Request must include an overall budget, details of the planned project, expected completion date and what groups will be affected by the project
. • 2019-20 grant money that has not yet been expended can be repurposed (you can change the planned use of your money) for COVID-19. Please contact Tim with the change before proceeding Global Grants
• If medical equipment is required to respond to COVID-19 a global grant could be a great way to address this need
• Foundation is waiving the 30 percent foreign funding requirement for any new global grant that addresses COVID-19
There was discussion among club members about the best way to donate this money to the community. Craig Brown made a motion to apply for the grant with the intention of donating the funds to the Food Bank. Shawn Jacula seconded. Motion carried. At a personal level you can reach out to the food bank at this time at the following email holyname@caedm.ca
- Mary Lee will also be following up with Robin as to the status of the “Books for Belize” project
- Flags-Erwin and Mike have been working on some alternative ways to roll out the 2020 Flag Project. Erwin will update possibly at our next meeting…..
