Old Business:
- Bylaws-soonest we can vote is next week. Reminder to bring any concerns or questions to Mike Webb prior to the vote
New Business
- Purple pinkie day-the executive agreed that this project is not feasible this year due to covid restrictions
- Flags-Erwin-There are quite a few flags that need refurbishing so we had to order replacements. 50 flags were needed to receive a discount and we have at least 30 that need replacing. We went over our refurbishment budget of $500 by $287 but we have been under budget in past years. Erin is hoping to have a work bee in March or April
- Out Reach school request-We received a funding request from the Out Reach Center(VOC) for their lunch program. Mike attached a copy of their funding request on his email dated Feb 1. We have budgeted $250 for the VOC for their breakfast progam so we don’t need to have a motion. Mike is going to check with their principal to see what their situation is for the year and get some more info.
- Audit-Our club must have the books audited from an outside source. Jack Seewalt has offered to do this at no charge. As per the motion dated Dec 5/19. Bruce MacDuff moved that Jack Seewalt do an audit of the books as an outside source. Laurel Wynnychuk seconded. All were in favor. Motion carried. The club had set aside $500 in the budget for an outside review. Scott Webb made a motion that the $500 be donated to the Rotary Foundation and the tax receipt be done in Jack’s name. Brenda Lee seconded. All in favor Motion carried. Motion from Dec 5/19 Mike Webb made a motion that the Rotary Club of Vermilion engage a qualified individual who is not a member of the Rotary Club to audit and review our books following the conclusion of the 2019-2020 fiscal year, and that following that audit of the books, the audit and the books be reviewed by the current Club President prior to presentation of the financial statements to the club at the next annual meeting. Dave Bates seconded. Motion carried.
- Cash Draw January-Eugene will be stopping at Webb’s Ford today and he and Mike will do the draw. Eugene will send out the winners names through clubrunner.
- Adventures in Citizenship-Lorne has a student interested in attending. This is being done virtually this year. Lorne will see if more than one student can attend an possibly find additional students.
There was general discussion around the possibility of last years’ president Mary Lee Prior and this years’ president Mike Webb along with next years’ attending next year(2022) International Convention. Due to covid restrictions, the past and current presidents conventions were cancelled. We can discuss further in upcoming meetings.
Darlene brought up the possibility of sending a thank you to the staff of the Nursing Home who are dealing with a covid outbreak. She is going to check in to what we might be able to send
